iDoctor Editor's Review
Keep your Mac running at peak performance with this always available SaaS.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll likely keep saying it as long as I’m physically able to use a computer – keeping it clean, free of malware and running at peak performance can be a tedious full time job and by the way, that job sucks.
When it comes to fixing computer problems, most people don’t know the ins and outs of the reasons WHY a computer does what it does. Figuring that out can take time, and unfortunately, money. Having a decent alternative when you know you’re over your head can be very comforting. iDoctor offers that level of service and its available for your Mac right now.
iDoctor is a software as a service product. This means that what you’re really buying isn’t a computer cleaning application so much as the service and techs behind it. This means when you have a problem, there’s someone on tap to help you figure out what to do and how to do it. When you first run the app and do your one and only complementary scan, an iDoctor technician joins you in a chat and can talk you through what’s going on with the scan as well as taking the information off of your computer’s scan and analyzing it to help you figure out what’s wrong.
More than likely, you’ve got a lot of junk files on your Mac. I know I did. iDoctor found nearly 2600 items on my Mac that it classified as junk, taking up almost 5GB of space on my Mac. That can be problematic for many. On my Mac – with a 512GB SSD, 5GB isn’t a huge amount. On a 128GB or smaller SSD, 5GB is a LOT of space.
When you purchase an iDoctor license, you get unlimited cleaning and cleaning support from the iDoctor team. With it, you get access to a personal, support professional 24/7. You also get access to 15 cleaning and optimization tools to make working with your Mac easier. iDoctor can also help you manage, encrypt, backup, recover or shred files with just a couple of mouse clicks, making protecting your private information a bit easier.
From a junk file perspective, iDoctor helps you scan your Mac's hard drive in order to reveal large files that you might not need anymore. In addition, the Duplicates Finder enables you to get rid of duplicate files while the Fast Cleanup feature finds and removes junk files. On top of that, iDoctor's Anti-Theft feature enables you to track your Mac and take snapshots of the thief using your Mac's built-in webcam in case your computer gets stolen.
App Pro’s: Software is free, but you need the service for it to work
App Con’s: Priced as a true service, having someone peek over your shoulder can be a bit creepy, monthly fees can be expensive
